grid art



This peice of art is supposed to resemble Bob Marley because he is one of my favorite singers. To start off, I drew lines and put a grid on my canvas then I labled each square with the color I wanted to use in it. After that, I just painted it in and outlined it in black and then ta da!

The hardest part of this project was trying to plan out how many shots I  would need to film to fill the full 2 minutes. Broadway plays that caught my attention: Fifty Percent, a story that is both modern and ancient tells of a lonely widow, named Bea, who meets a man in a Ballroom, and is quickly consumed with adoration.  After pursuing an interest, she shortly after discovers that this man is married with kids. Although, Bea was content with having an affair with him because according to her, she would " rather have fifty percent of him, or any percent of him, than all of anybody else at all ." Bea realizes that she does not live the stereotypical lifestyle of a wife to him, she realizes that even though she does not wear his last name or iron his shirts, she can live with content knowing she has fifty percent of him. The story told is common; love affairs are endlessly prevalent and Bea is a strong woman for that. She found love one other time to the man she was married with, however when he died she found love once again to a married man. After all, we can't help who we love.  ...

Dido and Aeneas

Jillian Aebly The 1688 groundbreaking performance and opera of Dido and Aeneas , written by Henry Purcell, portrayed an iconic love affair filled with betrayal, lust, anger and love. The use of mise en scene throughout, made it easier for the audience to understand the heinous scenes vs the pleasant ones and the cordial vs malicious characters. Though it is considered to be an opera, the use of technology, lighting and scenery evokes a cinematic affect, which at that time could be looked at as innovative and revolutionary. To understand this opera, you need to first understand the past of these two lovers and how they came to unite as one. After the Trojan War, Aeneas fled the burning city of Troywith his wife and son to build a new empire in Italy, although they both died in the flames and when he set sail to find new land and build a new empire, a deadly storm veered them astray and placed them in vulnerable land (which eventually becomes Rome).
